A good few weeks ago now (maybe even months – sorry Claire!) I was nominated by another south-east London blogger, the lovely Claire from The Pramshed to take part in My Five Favourite Things tag. The tag was originally set-up by Sarah at Mumzilla.
Though I tend to get behind with these sorts of posts and then feel guilty about it, I do love to do them as it reminds me how lovely the blogger community is and how good it is to feel a part of it.
I found it a little tricky to pick my five favourite things as, as I explain here, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with stuff. However, at the moment, the following things are on my list.
The Art of Breathing by Danny Penman
This is a really accessible book if you are interested in finding out more about mindfulness and I love dipping into it for inspiration. As you would expect I am a sucker for any book about mindfulness but this would definitely be on my highly recommended list. It’s beautifully illustrated and the practices are straightforward and not at all ‘hippy-dippy’ or ‘woo-woo’. However, it’s not at all lightweight. Danny Penman is an author and journalist who has worked closely with Professor Mark Williams (previously at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre). I love listening to him guiding some of the practices from the book on the frantic world website too.
‘Mum’ Lucky Charm Bracelet
I usually wear my lucky charm bracelet and it is one of my most treasured possessions. It was a present given to me by my hubby the first Christmas we were a family of three. It always makes me smile when I catch a glimpse of it during my working day and is a lovely reminder of our beautiful family when I’m not with them.
Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet
A blogger has to have something techie on the list. However, it’s not my phone as I am not a fan of how omnipresent our smartphones are these days. However, this Surface Pro is my new gadget and I love how versatile it is. You can use it as a tablet or as a mini laptop and both modes work really well. The eldest loves using the pen too.
The White Company Orange Grove Scented Candle
However much of a tip the house is a really good scented candle can help me to ignore the mess. It can certainly help my mood too. I love this one and usually request this or the white lavender one for Birthdays. The sense of smell is such a powerful sense and so often one we don’t take time to indulge it. The winter candle is a must at Christmas too.
Moleskin Notepad used as a Bullet Journal
I LOVE a notepad and have loads of them dotted around the house to help me keep a track of ideas, things to do etc. Moleskin are so robust and durable and look good too. I’m currently using this one as a bullet journal and am finding this system so helpful in keeping me reasonably organised. I really recommend this system for busy people who don’t want everything to be digital.
What are your favourite things? I’d love to know.
Thank you again to Claire for nominating me to take part in the tag. To share the love I nominate the following bloggers to let us know what their five favourite things are:
Alana from Burnished Chaos
Karen from Two Tiny Hands
Lucy from What My Fridge Says
Bye for now.
